Glengarry Brewing is the fusion of what happens when a hyperactive individual becomes extremely bored and his wife tells him to get a hobby. The Brewmaster, David Hladky, began brewing beer in 2008. Originally extract brews provided by Midwest Brewing Supply in Minneapolis, MN. From that launch pad, I quickly graduated to constructing my own All Grain equipment and have never looked back. I purchase the vast majority of my brewing supplies today from Patriot Brewing Supply of Elkhorn, NE. What I can't get at Patriot I purchase from Midwest. I will list my original reasons for becoming a home brewer below.
- I hate what American Pilsner has become. Listen folks, I am 50% Czech / 50% German so I understand what Pilsner is, Bud Light and Miller Light are not what the folks in Plzen or Budweis would even recognize as Pilsner.
- I miss the beers I drank in my youth. I spent some time in high school living in the Beloit, Wisconsin area. I was introduced to such gems as the original Old Style, Lienenkugel (Canoe Paddler), Lowenbrau Special Dark, and New Glarus (Spotted Cow). The later being an all time favorite of mine. It really sucks that it's a 402 mile beer run to get any of it though. So, I had to learn to make my own.
- After I built the Precision Brewmaster 3000 by hand in the summer of 2015, I was hooked. By then it was All Grain recipes with my own flare added to them. I never looked back.
- There is just something about creating your own Alcoholic beverage that is well, Intoxicating.
- The #1 reason I love brewing, the friends and connections I have made with other folks who do this as a hobby. Brewers are really a solid group of people.
- Last but not least, I genuinely love to consume the product I produce and put my heart and soul into making it great.
- Oh yeah, The neighbors on Glengarry Circle really enjoy getting free beer too. Who wouldn't?
